November 15th, 12 pm - 2 pm ET
Overview
Graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is a frequent complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation that can lead to reduced quality of life and potentially reduced overall survival. Important recent advances in targeted therapy are reshaping how GvHD is managed, and it is crucial for clinicians to understand the rationale and data supporting the use of these agents.
The open exchange of ideas and clinical practices is characteristic of the Reflective Case-Based Oncology Collective™ format, which provides the ideal educational intervention to meet this educational need. Each session in this series of virtual classroom events will be led by 2 expert faculty and will include a small group of your peers, limited to groups of 12. As a learner, you’ll have the opportunity to submit deidentified patient cases from your own practice for discussion by the group to collectively consider the ramifications of new treatment approaches. The experts will review management decisions while considering recent clinical trial and real-world data relevant to the case, and you will have an opportunity to have your questions answered.
Benefits of Attending
- Meet with hematology expert faculty and peers to review cases
- Evaluate pivotal clinical trial data on the use of novel therapies in patients with acute and chronic GvHD
- Discuss best practices for incorporating new and emerging therapies for GvHD into current treatment algorithms
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward medical oncologists, hematologists, and other oncology health care professionals interested in the latest advances for patients with acute and chronic GvHD.
Fellows, researchers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of patients with GvHD are also invited to attend.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Explain the pathological mechanisms of acute and chronic GvHD that inform therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of these post-transplant complications
- Assess the clinical profiles of therapeutic approaches that have been evaluated for the prevention and treatment of acute/chronic GvHD
- Implement proactive strategies to facilitate the identification and management of treatment-related toxicities in patients at risk of developing GvHD or who are treated for GvHD
- Demonstrate ability to translate evidence-based approaches for the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic GvHD that allow for optimized surveillance and care for these post-transplant complications
