Overview:
Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare and aggressive hematologic malignancy that presents significant diagnostic and treatment challenges. While tagraxofusp remains the only approved therapy, an expanding CD123-directed pipeline—including pivekimab sunirine, bispecific antibodies, and CAR T-cell therapies—is reshaping the treatment landscape and creating a need for clinicians to stay current with emerging evidence.
This Medical Crossfire® program will feature expert-led,
case-based discussions on diagnosis, frontline treatment strategies, emerging
CD123-directed therapies, and multidisciplinary care. The debate-driven format
will help clinicians interpret new data and apply evolving evidence to the
management of patients with BPDCN.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate BPDCN from clinically and pathologically overlapping entities using integrated immunophenotypic, cytogenetic, and molecular criteria
- Compare efficacy and toxicity profiles of FDA-approved and investigational therapies when prioritizing frontline and relapsed/refractory treatment options
- Implement evidence-based protocols for capillary leak syndrome prevention and management while preserving treatment intensity in patients with BPDCN
- Integrate transplant referral, clinical trial enrollment, and multidisciplinary supportive care into BPDCN treatment plans tailored for older adults, pediatric and AYA patients, and patients with CNS involvement
Target Audience:
This educational activity is directed toward
hematologist-oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, NPs/PAs,
pharmacists, dermatopathologists, hematopathologists, and other HCPs involved
in the diagnosis and treatment of BPDCN.
