Activity Overview

The management of esophagogastric adenocarcinoma has evolved substantially with the introduction of effective targeted and immunologic therapies. However, these therapies are appropriate mainly for patients with specific biomarkers, necessitating careful coordination among the multidisciplinary team to ensure proper tissue stewardship and testing, which, in turn, allows for appropriate treatment selection and sequencing, as well as the management and mitigation of adverse events (AEs).

In this series of live, virtual webcasts, experts in the management of esophagogastric adenocarcinoma discuss the evaluation and treatment of HER2-positive disease across the treatment continuum. Each program in the series addresses distinct clinical challenges, from first-line treatment selection through management of progression and AEs associated with HER2-directed therapies. These points are discussed in the context of patient case scenarios that reflect the decisions clinicians encounter in practice.

This educational activity is an archive of the live presentation held on July 7, 2026.

Target Audience

This educational program is primarily directed toward medical oncologists, molecular pathologists, radiologists, gastroenterologists, advanced practice providers, and nurses who are involved in the management of patients with advanced or metastatic gastroesophageal (GEA) cancers. Note to CED: Please do not alter the learning objectives below except for correcting misspellings, grammar, and punctuation.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

  • Apply best practices for HER2 biomarker testing in patients with GEA to guide timely, individualized treatment decisions
  • Evaluate emerging clinical trial data assessing novel HER2-targeted treatment strategies for GEA
  • Incorporate the latest evidence on HER2-directed therapies into individualized treatment plans for patients with advanced GEA
  • Implement strategies to mitigate and manage AEs associated with HER2-targeted therapy
