Overview:
Racial disparities in cancer care persist, with minority populations experiencing poorer outcomes across various cancers. Structural racism, socioenvironmental factors, and biological differences contribute to these disparities. Interventions like real-time warning systems and patient navigation show promise in addressing surgical delays and improving equity. Educational initiatives and systemic changes are crucial for reducing disparities and improving outcomes. This satellite symposium, ancillary to the 2024 ASCO Annual Meeting, will facilitate collaboration among experts, focusing on practical solutions to close care gaps in underserved communities, moving beyond recognition to implementation.
