Activity Overview
HER2 is an important emerging target of interest in gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies, most notably in the context of esophagogastric cancer, where multiple anti-HER2–based treatment approaches are now available. This online, on-demand educational activity brings together leading clinician-researchers to provide insight on the current state of the art with respect to anti-HER2 therapy in GI oncology. By coupling expert faculty commentary with case discussions, this tumor board highlights current best practices and areas in which potential future treatment options may fit into the standard of care for HER2-positive GI tumors.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward pathologists, oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of GI malignancies.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
• Discuss the rationale underlying the application of HER2-trageted therapies in GI malignancies and testing strategies to identify appropriate patients who would benefit from HER2-targeted therapy
• Explain recent data from clinical trials evaluating current and emerging HER2-targeted therapies for the treatment of GI malignancies
• Determine approaches to personalize care for patients with HER2-positive GI cancers by integrating guideline-based recommendations in parallel with emerging evidence
• Apply best practices for proactively monitoring for and mitigating adverse events related to HER2-targeted therapies for GI cancers
