Overview:
This program will provide ear nose and throat specialists with an evidence-based forum to review current data, share clinical experiences, and discuss best practices for obtaining safe and effective intranasal anesthesia and hemostasis during nasal and sinus surgery to support optimal patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Explain the mechanism of action of available topical anesthetics and vasoconstrictors for mucous membranes.
- Identify the FDA-approved and off-label clinical indications for topical anesthetics and vasoconstrictors in the ENT practice.
- Describe the safety profile, toxicity concerns, and appropriate dosing parameters of topical anesthetics and vasoconstrictors.
- Implement interprofessional team monitoring protocols during topical anesthetic and vasoconstrictor administration, including recognition and management of adverse events
