Activity Overview

This online, on-demand virtual symposium brings together renowned experts in the prevention and treatment of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections that occur following hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). In this educational program, these experts discuss current and emerging therapeutic options for the prevention and treatment of primary CMV infections and the management of patients with resistant and refractory disease. 

This educational activity is an archive of the live satellite symposium held on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Target Audience

This activity is directed toward hematologists, medical oncologists, specialty pharmacists, researchers, and investigators who treat or are interested in the prevention and treatment of transplant-related CMV infection. Other allied health care professionals involved in the prevention and management of transplant-related CMV infection will also be invited to participate.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

  • Identify risk factors for CMV and assess the impact of CMV on treatment outcomes for patients who undergo HSCT
  • Outline current and emerging strategies for primary and secondary prevention of CMV infection in patients undergoing HSCT
  • Devise strategies to integrate evidence-based data and expert recommendations into current clinical practice to prevent and treat CMV infection post-HSCT
  • Discuss mechanisms that lead to development of resistant CMV infection as well as current and emerging strategies to address CMV infections resistant or refractory to current antiviral therapies in patients who undergo HSCT
