SimulatED™: Personalizing Treatment Choices to Achieve Glycemic and Weight Management Goals

Activity Overview

SimulatEd™ is an online, on-demand activity that promotes clinical reasoning and updates clinicians on the latest advances that impact patient care. Learners are provided with simulated patient encounters that provide insight into the patient journey along the continuum of care. Learners are asked to make clinical decisions as the cases progress. This allows them to employ critical thinking and decision-making in a consequence-free environment; it also leverages cohort learning as participants compare their treatment choices with those of peers and experts. This activity focuses on 3 people with type 2 diabetes (T2D), each with their own priorities and needs relating to the management of their disease.

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. Other clinicians involved in the management of patients with diabetes will be invited to participate.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

1. Utilize appropriate guideline recommendations in selecting pharmacotherapy for patients with T2D who may benefit from intensified therapies to achieve glycemic and weight loss goals
2. Assess the efficacy and safety of current therapies for the management of T2D and obesity
3. Integrate patient-centered strategies in formulating treatment plans that incorporate patient-centered strategies and shared goals of therapy for patients with T2D who would benefit from intensified therapy
