Overview:
An estimated 24,740 new primary brain and other central nervous system (CNS) tumors are expected to be diagnosed in the United States in 2026. Molecular classification is now central to diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment selection, with BRAF alterations and IDH mutations representing key actionable drivers across adult and pediatric CNS tumors. However, BRAF V600 mutations, non-V600 mutations, fusions, and splice variants are biologically and therapeutically distinct, requiring appropriate testing and interpretation to guide care. As targeted options expand, including BRAF/MEK combinations, type II RAF inhibitors, next-generation RAF inhibitors, and brain-penetrant IDH inhibitors, clinicians must be prepared to select molecular tests, assign alteration class, sequence targeted therapy with chemoradiation, and manage regimen-specific toxicities.
This
CME/CE-certified Show Me the Data™ hybrid satellite symposium, held in
conjunction with the 2026 Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) Annual Meeting, will
provide practical, evidence-based guidance for managing BRAF- and IDH-altered
primary CNS tumors. Through audience polling, faculty presentations, and panel
discussion, participants will explore molecular testing for BRAF point
mutations and fusions; IDH-directed therapy in grade 2 and higher-risk disease;
treatment of newly diagnosed BRAF V600E adult high-grade glioma; emerging RAF
strategies at recurrence; and alteration-matched therapy in pediatric low-grade
glioma. The program will also address management of pyrexia, hepatotoxicity,
and other toxicities that can affect treatment continuity, helping
neuro-oncologists, medical oncologists, advanced practice providers, and the
broader care team confidently match therapy to the relevant molecular driver.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, learners
will be better able to:
- Apply molecular testing and interpretation strategies to identify actionable alterations, including BRAF alterations and IDH mutations, in adult and pediatric primary CNS tumors
- Evaluate current and emerging evidence supporting biomarker-informed treatment strategies for patients with molecularly defined CNS tumors
- Integrate molecular classification, tumor type, patient age, disease setting, and available evidence into treatment planning and clinical trial referral
- Incorporate prevention, monitoring, and management strategies for TRAEs into longitudinal care for patients receiving targeted or investigational therapies for molecularly defined CNS tumors

including neuro-oncologists and medical oncologists, nurses, advanced practice
providers (NPs/PAs), and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) involved in the
diagnosis and treatment of molecularly defined primary CNS tumors, including
