Overview:
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a highly aggressive malignancy accounts for less than 20% of lung cancers but contributes disproportionately to lung cancer-related mortality. Prognosis is particularly poor for patients who develop extensive-stage SCLC. Recent regulatory approvals and practice-changing data are redefining the extensive-stage SCLC treatment landscape and raising new considerations for selecting therapy and optimally incorporating emerging agents into practice.
Show Me the Data™: Redefining Extensive-Stage SCLC —
Emerging Therapies, CNS Considerations, and the Radiation Oncologist's Evolving
Role, held in conjunction with the 2026 American Society for Radiation Oncology
(ASTRO) Annual Meeting, will feature a panel of radiation oncology and medical
oncology specialists who will review recent developments and highlight practical
strategies to incorporate systemic therapies and radiation therapy to optimize
outcomes for patients with extensive-stage SCLC.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate emerging systemic therapies for extensive-stage SCLC across lines of treatment
- Apply evidence for the intracranial activity of emerging systemic agents to individualize treatment in extensive-stage SCLC
- Differentiate and co-manage treatment-related adverse events associated with novel therapies for extensive-stage SCLC
Target Audience:
This educational activity is directed toward radiation
oncologists, medical oncologists, and the multidisciplinary team — including
NPs/PAs, oncology nurses, and pharmacists — involved in the management of
patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC), including those
with brain metastases.
