Overview:
Radical changes in the management of patients with early-stage resectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has generated knowledge and competence gaps in oncology clinicians who treat patients with early-stage lung cancer. Prompt biomarker testing is critical to determine the appropriate approach for systemic therapy, which requires effective multidisciplinary care coordination in order to minimize the time from diagnosis to availability of test results. Accurate disease staging is also critical, which often involves close collaboration in a tumor board setting. Oncology clinicians must also remain up-to-date on the latest clinical trial data to guide treatment selection, as well as evidence-based approaches to mitigate and manage treatment-related adverse events.
In this
interactive Show Me the Data™ program, experts will lead
case-based panel discussions on the latest clinical advances in managing
resectable NSCLC with immunotherapy and targeted treatments. At each ‘decision
point’ in the case, the audience will vote on next steps, and then faculty will
be challenged to Show Me the Data that supports clinical
decision-making. The expert panel will also share perspectives on the latest
data and clinical pearls from their respective practices in the management of
patients with early-stage resectable NSCLC.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Assess key findings from pivotal clinical trials evaluating neoadjuvant, adjuvant, and perioperative immunotherapy for resectable early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
- Evaluate the latest evidence for the use of targeted therapies for EGFR-mutant resectable early-stage NSCLC in the neoadjuvant and adjuvant settings
- Apply best practices for biomarker testing to guide personalized selection of perioperative systemic therapy in patients with NSCLC
- Implement multidisciplinary strategies to mitigate treatment-related toxicities associated with perioperative immunotherapies and EGFR-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors
