Overview:
Neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME) are significant contributors to adult vision loss worldwide and confer substantial social and economic burdens on patients and society. Poor adherence to antivascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) injections have contributed to suboptimal visual outcomes in the real world compared with clinical trial results.
In this program, expert faculty will review the evidence for extended-interval treatment of nAMD and DME with newer anti-VEGF therapies and discuss multidisciplinary care of patients with nAMD or DME with comanagement between ophthalmologists and optometrists.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Formulate an effective multidisciplinary approach between retina specialists, optometrists, and ophthalmologists to improve the overall management of retinal diseases
- Develop treatment plans for patients recently diagnosed with nAMD
- Develop treatment plans for patients recently diagnosed with DME
