Let’s Get “Real”: Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency – Case-Based Perspectives on Managing Associated Emphysema

6:30-7:30 PM ET

Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) is one of the most common, but under-recognized, hereditary disorders that predisposes affected individuals to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and liver diseases such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. As early symptoms of AATD tend to resemble other respiratory pathologies, an initial clinical diagnosis can be difficult and is often delayed.

Elevating Care for PAH: Applying Recommended Management Approaches to Maximize Outcomes

Elevating Care for PAH: Applying Recommended Management Approaches to Maximize Outcomes

7:30-8:30 PM ET

Pulmonary arterial hypertension originates in the pulmonary artery vasculature. A combination of inciting factors (eg, drugs, inflammation, infection) and genetics results in arterial intimal proliferation as one of the first steps in disease initiation. This also provides a new target for emerging therapies.

Shaping the Management of COPD with Biologic Therapy

Shaping the Management of COPD with Biologic Therapy

8:30-9:00 PM ET

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common lung disease with high morbidity and mortality. COPD is associated with an increased number of comorbidities, frequent physician/emergency department visits, multiple hospitalizations, and the need for ongoing medical therapy. Recent developments are changing the way the pathophysiology of COPD is viewed, with type 2 inflammation emerging as a driver of disease. This provides new and emerging targets and treatments for this condition.

This PER Respiratory Summit brings together experts from around the country to discuss managing patients with some of the most vexing respiratory disorders for patients and healthcare providers.
