Activity Overview
Genital psoriasis, often classified as a subtype of intertriginous psoriasis, is more common in men and those with severe, long-standing disease. Its detection is inconsistent; health care providers identify it in 7% to 42% of examinations due to reluctance in discussing or examining the genital area, contributing to underdiagnosis and undertreatment. The ‘REEL’ Time Patient Counseling™ program enhances education by using simulated real-world patient counseling scenarios. Through role-playing consultations, learners observe treatment journeys as expert faculty offer insights and link counseling to key clinical data, creating a comprehensive learning experience.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward dermatologists and specialty nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Primary care providers/internists, obstetrician/gynecologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, and other health care practitioners involved in the management of patients with genital psoriasis will also find it useful.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Describe the adverse effects of genital psoriasis on patients
- Identify the clinical presentation of genital psoriasis to arrive at the correct diagnosis
- Assess clinical trial data from new and emerging therapeutic options for genital psoriasis
- Design individualized management plans for patients with difficult-to-treat genital psoriasis
