Activity Overview
This online educational activity is designed to provide expert interpretation of new and emerging data on the treatment of major depression, with a forward-looking perspective on how new and novel agents might impact clinical practice. The role of glutamate in the pathophysiology of depression and current and emerging medications that target the glutamatergic pathway will be discussed.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward psychiatrists who treat patients with a range of psychiatric disorders. Psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals interested in treating patients with psychiatric disorders are invited to participate.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Evaluate clinical trial data for glutamatergic therapies for treatment-resistant depression
- Integrate novel glutamatergic therapies into individualized management plans for patients who are not responding to standard antidepressant therapy
