Overview

Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) is abundantly expressed in B cell leukemias and lymphomas. Small molecule BTK inhibitors have proved efficacious in this space and clinical development of this therapeutic strategy is ongoing and rapidly evolving.

This activity will update oncology health care professionals on the most recent data from key abstracts focusing on BTK inhibition in B-cell leukemia and lymphoma that were presented at recent summer 2023 meetings. By placing the data in clinical context, oncology practitioners can assess and apply these findings to their clinical practice and ultimately improve care for their patients with B-cell hematologic malignancies.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the scientific rationale for BTK targeting in the treatment of patients with CLL/SLL and MCL as well as mechanisms of action of covalent and non-covalent BTK inhibitors
  • Assess trial design, eligibility criteria, and recent evidence on current and emerging BTK inhibitors investigated in patients with CLL/SLL and MCL
  • Evaluate the clinical implications of updated data sets investigating current/emerging BTK inhibitors in patients with CLL/SLL and MCL within the context of evolving treatment algorithms
  • Apply proactive strategies to accurately recognize and mitigate the negative impact of treatment-related toxicities associated with BTK inhibition in patients with CLL/SLL and MCL

Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward hematologists, oncologists, NPs and nurses interested in the treatment of B-cell lymphomas.
