Cases and Conversations™: Evidence-Based Approaches to Management of CKD in Your Patients with T2DM

Overview:

Diabetes mellitus (DM) remains the leading cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD), and approximately 40% of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are estimated to have CKD. Patients with CKD with T2DM have worse prognosis than those with T2DM alone, including higher risk of cardiovascular morbidity, cardiovascular mortality, and all-cause mortality. Importantly, management of CKD in patients with DM has evolved over recent years, and there is renewed emphasis on therapeutic agents associated with renal protection. It is important for each care team to incorporate their patient’s specific needs into the treatment plan to support optimal outcomes. This symposium will feature experts discussing the impact of CKD on quality of life for patients with T2DM, renal risk assessment, and conventional and novel therapies.
