Activity Overview
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, immune-mediated disease of the central nervous system (CNS) in which disability progression is increasingly attributed to chronic, compartmentalized neuroinflammation behind the blood-brain barrier. Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) has emerged as a therapeutic target of interest due to its central role in signaling processes in B cells and myeloid cells of the CNS. Several BTK inhibitors, which remain under investigation for MS, are designed to modulate these processes on both sides of the blood-brain barrier to varying degrees. This CME-certified activity features 2 expert faculty who pair expert commentary with video animations to illustrate the pathophysiology of neuroinflammation in MS, the mechanisms of action of BTK inhibition, and the emerging clinical trial data for this investigational class.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward neurologists, neuromuscular specialists, neuroimmunologists, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other health care providers involved in the diagnosis and management of MS.
