“D” is for Diagnosis™: Seeking the Cause of Abdominal Pain

Activity Overview

“D” Is for Diagnosis is an interactive, case-based program that challenges learners to think like clinical detectives as they work with expert faculty to evaluate a patient with recurrent acute abdominal pain. As the case unfolds, participants will analyze clinical clues, develop a differential diagnosis, and navigate common diagnostic pitfalls while considering both common and uncommon causes of abdominal pain. This innovative format promotes active learning and clinical reasoning in an engaging and informative environment.

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward hepatologists, gastroenterologists, hematologists, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other health care professionals involved in the diagnosis of acute hepatic porphyria (AHP).

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

• Describe clinical presentations of patients with AHP
• Identify the differential diagnosis of AHP
• Apply current assessment strategies to accurately diagnose patients with AHP based on clinical presentation
