Activity Overview
Food allergy is an unpredictable condition that can affect many aspects of a person’s life. Food avoidance and rescue medication have traditionally been the standard of management, although these approaches do not completely mitigate the risks of accidental exposure. Oral immunotherapy has provided some patients with desensitization to their allergen. The recent FDA approval of the first biologic to treat food allergy, however, is likely to shift the paradigm of care, especially for patients who are affected by multiple food allergies.
This Community Practice Connection™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology annual meeting held in February 2024. This unique and engaging multimedia activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects of traditional and new treatments for food allergy. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward allergists, immunologists, pediatricians, specialty nurse practitioners, and specialty physician assistants involved in the care of patients with food allergy.
