Activity Overview
Thousands of cases of advanced or metastatic non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harbor rearrangements or mutations in the ALK gene, creating an opportunity for targeted therapy. Multiple successive generations of ALK inhibitors have provided increasing benefits as first-line treatment, highlighting the need for comprehensive and timely biomarker testing in newly-diagnosed patients.
This Community Practice Connections™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from the 22nd Annual Winter Lung Cancer Conference® held in January/February 2025. This unique and engaging multi-media activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects of managing patients with ALK-positive advanced or metastatic NSCLC, putting recent clinical trial data into clinical context. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.
Target Audience
This educational activity is primarily directed at oncologists, oncology nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other health care professionals involved in the care and treatment of people with ALK+ mNSCLC.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Integrate molecular testing into treatment planning for patients with mNSCLC
- Compare the efficacy and safety of ALK inhibitors in the first-line treatment of patients with ALK-positive mNSCLC
- Select first-line treatment for patients with ALK-positive mNSCLC incorporating clinical trial evidence, guidelines, and patient-related factors
- Incorporate recommended strategies for monitoring and managing adverse events associated with ALK inhibitors in patients with mNSCLC
