Activity Overview

COVID-19 remains a significant challenge for health care systems, contributing to lengthy hospitalizations, long-term health complications, and costly economic burdens. High-risk populations remain vulnerable to severe disease outcomes, with prevention remaining a key component of management. This CME-certified Medical Crossfire^® podcast is the second in a 3-part series titled Primary Care Playbook Podcast: Advancing COVID-19 Prophylaxis in Community Practice. In this activity, 3 expert faculty in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Infectious Disease exchange unique perspectives and discuss practical approaches to choosing appropriate COVID-19 prevention strategies in clinical practice, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), individualized patient selection, and shared decision-making for patients at high risk of severe disease.

Target Audience

This educational activity is intended for primary care physicians (PCPs), infectious disease (ID) specialists, critical care physicians, hospitalists, nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs), and pharmacists involved in the treatment of COVID-19.
