Activity Overview
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is a rare, immune-mediated neuropathy with heterogeneous presentations and evolving diagnostic criteria that contribute to potentially prolonged misdiagnosis and treatment delays. Electrodiagnostic testing remains central to diagnosis, yet it is prone to technical and interpretive errors, necessitating a structured, multimodal approach that integrates clinical, electrophysiologic, and supportive findings to more reliably distinguish CIDP from related disorders.
This CME activity reviews the latest diagnostic framework and examines an expanding therapeutic landscape, spanning corticosteroids, immunoglobulin therapy, plasma exchange, and emerging targeted agents, such as FcRn antagonists and complement inhibitors. This session also discusses how patient-specific factors, like disease phenotype, prior treatment response, comorbidities, and patient preferences, should guide treatment selection, sequencing, and long-term monitoring to preserve function and quality of life.
