Activity Overview

The management of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME) can pose challenges. First-generation anti-VEGF therapies may improve visual and anatomic outcomes, yet some patients do not respond to therapy or have difficulty maintaining adherence. Newer anti-VEGF and bispecific agents have the potential to allow for longer treatment intervals, and real-world data are emerging for their use in previously treated and treatment-naïve patients.

This Community Practice Connections™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from a live symposium presented at the 2024 EnVision Summit held in February. This unique and engaging multimedia activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects of managing patients with nAMD and DME, putting recent clinical trial data into clinical context. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.

Target Audience

This online educational activity is directed toward ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other health care professionals involved in the management of patients with nAMD and DME.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

  • Analyze current evidence associated with novel therapies for the management of nAMD and DME.
  • Outline novel treatment strategies to reduce injection burden in patients with nAMD and DME.
  • Apply emerging evidence in the development of management plans for patients presenting with nAMD or DME resistant to treatment.
