Overview:
Oncology nurses are pivotal members of the healthcare teams in managing these new and complex therapies. Their role in patient monitoring, education, and intervention is essential for successful treatment with ADCs. Nurses are uniquely positioned to identify early signs of toxicities, educate patients on possible adverse events, and help mitigate those risks via early medical intervention.
However, many nurses have not received comprehensive education on the relevant biomarkers of ADCs, their mechanism of action, and adverse event management. Given the rapid introduction of ADCs into the clinical landscape, it is critical to address these gaps through continuing education programs. This educational symposium targeted to oncology nurses will help bridge these gaps, enabling nurses to provide better patient care and improve clinical outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the role of ADC therapeutic targets in solid tumors
- Interpret findings from recent clinical trials on ADC therapies and their implications for advanced practice providers
- Apply evidence-based strategies to monitor and manage ADC-specific adverse events during and after treatment
- Describe clinical considerations of ADC therapy needed to effectively counsel patients
