In this video, Michael J. Birrer, MD, PhD, Professor, Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Physician, Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, Director, Gillette Center for Gynecologic Oncology, Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, discusses the importance of oncology continuing medical education (CME) conferences. Controversies surrounding the field of oncology present no truly correct answer. Dr. Birrer believes live oncology CME events provide a forum to discuss each treatment method, and allow community oncologists to sort through new information on their own. Oncology CME covers a great deal for both cancer patients and those treating them. CME programs allow for presentation of clinically relevant material in all aspects, which community oncologists can take and apply it in their own practice.
