Overview
HER2 has become an important target of interest for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer in recent years, with research efforts culminating in successful clinical trials and a first drug approval in 2023. The goal of this Oncology Best Practice™ series is to provide up-to-date recommendations for testing, treatment selection, and management of toxicities related to patients with HER2-positive metastatic colorectal cancer. This series of live, virtual meetings will include multiple formats for learning, including data presentations, case presentations, and faculty Q&A.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward oncology healthcare professionals who treat or manage patients with colorectal cancer.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Determine the frequency of HER2 alterations in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), characteristics of HER2+ tumors, and implications for treatment
- Evaluate data from clinical trials investigating HER2-targeted therapies for the treatment of HER2+ mCRC
- Develop proactive strategies to facilitate the identification and management of adverse events associated with HER2-targeted therapies in patients with metastatic HER2+ CRC
- Integrate biomarker testing and evidence-based, guideline-directed therapies to manage real-world case scenarios encountered in the care of patients with HER2+ advanced/metastatic CRC
