Upcoming Sessions:
Overview
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) accounts for approximately 15% of all lung cancer and is the first and second leading cause of cancer death among men and women worldwide, respectively. SCLC has a very poor prognosis, with a 5-year survival rate of < 5%. Early detection of SCLC is challenging due to the lack of specific symptoms and associated fast tumor growth, making current approaches to screening ineffective in achieving diagnosis at earlier stages of the disease.
The Oncology Best Practice™ series is held across the United States on a virtual platform, accompanied by online enduring activities. The program will highlight clinical best practices to effectively apply treatment strategies and patient management to improve outcomes across frontline and relapsed/refractory SCLC care in community treatment settings.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward community-based medical oncologists, pulmonologists, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, and nurses.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Discuss landmark trials that have established current treatment paradigms in frontline and relapsed/refractory SCLC
- Explain the safety profile and methods to manage treatment-related toxicities among patients who receive care for SCLC
- Identify strategies to address barriers associated with community practice management of patients with SCLC
