Oncology Best Practice™ Grand Rounds Series: Bridging Clinical Gaps in ITP to Improve Adherence and Patient Outcomes Across Lines of Care

In order to request this CME/CE activity for your center, please contact Samantha Zelasko at SZelasko@gotoper.com

Overview

Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune hematologic disorder characterized by immune-mediated platelet destruction and impaired platelet function. Importantly, ongoing investigation and accumulated clinical experience has and continues to cement best practices for using first-line therapies and recombinant thrombopoietin-receptor agonists. Additionally, greater understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of ITP resulted in the development of new targeted therapies, such as inhibitors of the neonatal Fc receptor, Bruton tyrosine kinase and the complement pathway.

This CME activity will feature an ITP clinical expert sharing information that will help clinicians increase their awareness of the therapeutic profiles of available agent and become well-equipped to individualize treatment for each patient while minimizing treatment-associated toxicities.

Benefits of Attending

  • Test your baseline awareness of ITP diagnosis and treatment
  • Hear directly from leading experts about state-of-the-art ITP care
  • Get tips for how to counsel patients with ITP about their illness

Acknowledgement of Commercial Support

This CME program is supported by an educational grant from Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward hematologists/oncologists, pediatric hematologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, payers, and nurses.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Assess mechanistic approaches for immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) management in the context of evolving front-line and next-line approaches to care

• Evaluate emerging clinical trial data as well as ongoing studies on current and investigational approaches for ITP management

• Determine methods to optimize sequencing of therapies in patients with persistent/chronic ITP, including the application of patient counseling and management of therapy-related toxicities to ensure treatment adherence

• Assess the impact of ITP on quality of life (QOL) and how multidisciplinary collaboration and shared-decision making in community settings can improve the care of patients with ITP
