4 Easy Steps to Claim your COPE Credit

For PER Eye Care activities

Set up your PER account

  1. Visit www.gotoper.com/register.
  2. Enter your first name, last name, email, primary profession, and create a password (must include 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase, 1 number, 1 symbol).
  3. Agree to Terms & Conditions, then click “Register.”
  4. Complete all required fields, including your OD license number, OE tracker number, state(s) of licensure, and Florida Board of Optometry number (if applicable).
  5. Click “Save and Continue.”

Note: Registering for a PER activity is separate from creating a PER user account.

Collect the Course Code

At the conclusion of each course during the activity, PER will briefly display a slide with a course code for you to document. Please write each code or take a photo of each code. PER will not be able to provide the code to you later!

You’ll need these course codes to claim credit. Whenever you’re ready to claim credit, ensure that you have the course codes of each course you attended!

Please note that you are not required to claim credit for a course directly after the course. It’s best to wait and do this at the end of the day, or whenever it’s convenient for you (within 30 days of the activity).

Claim Credit Process

  1. Log in to your PER account at gotoper.com/credit.
  2. Enter the course code for the course you attended and click “Continue.”
    • If not logged in, click “Already Registered? Log in here” and enter your email and password.
    • If you don’t have a PER account, click “Register Now,” complete the registration, then proceed.
  3. Confirm attendance, complete the survey, and click the blue arrow.
  4. Enter your OD license number, OE Tracker Number, Florida Board of Optometry Number (if applicable), and state(s) of licensure. Complete the survey and click the blue arrow.
  5. Answer all required evaluation questions (marked with an asterisk), complete the survey, and click the blue arrow.
  6. Click “Submit” on the Claim Credit pop-up.
  7. Rate the course, add feedback (optional), and click “Exit Activity.”
  8. To claim credit for another course, go to gotoper.com/credit and repeat steps 2–7.

Please note that the online evaluations and requests for credit will remain available only for 45 days after the activity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I set up a PER account?

A: You can create a PER account by completing the registration form at gotoper.com/register. We recommend creating a PER account before you arrive at a PER live activity. Although it’s not required to have a PER account to register for an event, you must set up this account to claim credit for any of our activities. Make sure your account is set up before you start to claim credit for participating in an activity. (Note that you will only have to create a PER account 1 time.)

Q: I requested a password reset for my PER account but did not receive it. What should I do?

A: You may not receive a password reset email immediately after you request it. If you haven’t received an email to help you reset your password after 5 minutes, feel free to contact our staff onsite or send an email to eye-info@gotoper.com for assistance. (Things that may prevent you from receiving the password reset email include: You may have a firewall blocking the email, you may be using an email that is not the one you used to set up your PER account, and/or you may not have set up your PER account.)

Q: Am I required to answer the pretest and posttest questions at a PER activity to receive COPE credit?

A: Although answering the pre- and posttest questions is not required, doing so will help to verify that you participated in a particular course. (This will help us prove you attended, in case there is an audit or an issue with your claim credit process.)

Q: What should I do with the course codes that you provide at the end of each presentation? What are they used for?

A: We suggest either writing down each code in your program workbook or taking a picture of each code. You’ll need these codes to claim COPE credit after the activity. The codes are valid for 30 days after the activity, so there’s no need to complete the evaluation right after each course.

Q: How do I submit course codes to claim COPE credit after attending in person or virtually?

A: Visit gotoper.com/credit and enter the 4-digit code provided after each course that you attended. You have 30 days after the activity to complete the evaluations and credit requests, so there’s no need to enter the code right after the course. In fact, it may be easier to do so after you return home.

Q: How does the course code you provide get translated into COPE credit?

A: The course code we provide is specific to each course offered during a PER activity. After you complete an evaluation and request credit for a course, you can access your certificate of completion, save it to your computer, and upload it to OE Tracker. (If you are on a mobile device, you can screenshot your certificate and upload the certificate directly into the OE Tracker app.) The certificate of completion includes all the pertinent information that COPE needs to document your participation in the course and the credit you received for doing so: activity/event number; course ID number; course title; instructor’s (chair’s) name; state/location of instructor (chair); your name; your OD number; state of your license; and number of credits awarded.

Q: The course certificate I received has a 6-digit code for the course ID. Isn’t this supposed to be a 5-digit code followed by 2 letters?

A: Course certificates contain 2 different numbers: the course ID, which is a 5-digit number plus 2 letters, and the activity/event number, which is a 6-digit number. If your certificate does not show these correctly, feel free to reach out to eye-info@gotoper.com; we will be happy to review your certificate.

Q: I tried entering the course code PER provided on OE Tracker, but it doesn’t recognize the code. Where do I enter the code for COPE credit?

A: The course codes that PER provides cannot be used for direct access to OE Tracker. To claim credit for participating in a course, log into your PER account and enter the 4-digit code (provided after each course) at gotoper.com/credit. Complete the evaluation and then request credit. From there, you can access your certificates, save them to your computer, and upload them to OE Tracker. If you are using a mobile device, you can screenshot your certificates and upload the certificate directly into the OE Tracker app.

Q: Does PER automatically submit to OE Tracker information about the courses I’ve completed?

A: No, we do not submit certificates or credits to OE Tracker on your behalf.

Q: Who can I contact for assistance with receiving my COPE certificates?

A: Please email eye-info@gotoper.com with any questions regarding claiming COPE credit.
