Activity Overview
Sickle cell disease (SCD) remains a complex, high-burden condition that significantly impacts patients across every stage of life. This educational program brings together leading clinical experts to provide a comprehensive examination of the physical, psychosocial, and healthcare-system challenges faced by individuals living with SCD. Drawing on decades of collective experience, faculty will review current epidemiology, the persistently high rates of acute and chronic complications, and the substantial morbidity associated with pain, organ damage, and reduced quality of life. Faculty will also interpret data through the lens of real-world clinical practice so that participants clinicians gain a deeper understanding of the lived experience of patients, the clinical complexities that challenge optimal care, and opportunities to improve outcomes across the continuum of SCD management.
Target Audience
This educational activity is primarily directed toward hematologists, NPs, and PAs. Other clinicians involved in the care of SCD will also be invited to participate.
