Activity Overview
Epithelioid sarcoma often affects younger patients, and making a timely diagnosis of this rare subtype of soft tissue sarcoma requires a high index of clinical suspicion. The treatment of epithelioid sarcoma may incorporate local and systemic therapies, requiring multidisciplinary management throughout. Although cytotoxic chemotherapy is a key systemic treatment for this disease, the introduction of the EZH2 inhibitor tazemetostat adds further complexity to treatment decisions. Clinical education is needed to support a timely diagnosis and guide optimized multidisciplinary care for this rare and often aggressive disease.
This Cases and Conversations™ activity features expert faculty discussing cases of epithelioid sarcoma, highlighting relevant clinical data and case-based discussion for the diagnosis and management of this soft tissue sarcoma.
This educational activity is an archive of the online, on-demand virtual panel discussion held in December 2025.
Target Audience
This educational activity is directed toward a primary target audience of medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, and pathologists. Other health care providers who are involved in the management of soft tissue sarcomas, such as radiologists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, are also welcome to participate.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Differentiate epithelioid sarcoma (ES) from other malignant and non-malignant lesions by identifying its clinical presentation, histopathologic markers, and molecular features.
- Describe a multidisciplinary management approach for ES, integrating surgical oncology, pathology, radiation therapy, and medical oncology to optimize patient outcomes through coordinated care and individualized treatment planning.
- Identify when to refer patients with ES to specialized academic centers and clinical trials to expand access to novel therapies and research opportunities.
