Overview

Recent advances in MDS have focused on comprehensive genetic analysis and cataloging of genetic abnormalities. Determination of MDS subtypes is based on recent revisions to the WHO classification scheme. Patient risk is determined using the International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS). Scoring systems have been further refined for increased accuracy and the revised IPSS (R-IPSS) allows clinicians to categorize patient risk level and aids in determining best therapeutic options. Symptom management remains an integral part of treatment for these patients and guideline revisions include new supportive care options for MDS. Clinical trials are exploring novel therapeutics and new treatment regimens with use of combination therapies or examination of treatment sequences. It is paramount that health care providers remain up to date on forthcoming treatment options to decipher the best therapeutic option for patients.

Together, emerging therapies and changes to prognostic scoring systems have created a practice gap for health care providers treating patients with MDS.

To help you meet this challenge, this symposium will feature a series of case presentations given by prominent experts in the field to discuss the latest data in MDS and the implications for clinical practice. In addition to clinical scenarios, the expert panel will discuss their own preferences, with perspectives on clinical trial data and any important lessons learned from their own practice.

Benefits of Attending

  • Acquire knowledge from leading clinical experts on data for established and new developments for the prognosis of MDS
  • Implement treatment protocols that are on the forefront of clinical research to further improve patient outcomes
  • Enhance approaches toward management of symptomatic MDS for best supportive care and increased quality of life
  • Network with your colleagues and clinical experts in the field of myelodysplastic syndromes
