Overview

Recent advances in MDS have focused on comprehensive genetic analysis and cataloging of genetic abnormalities. Determination of MDS subtypes is based on recent revisions to the WHO classification scheme. Patient risk is determined using the International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS). Scoring systems have been further refined for increased accuracy and the revised IPSS (R-IPSS) allows clinicians to categorize patient risk level and aids in determining best therapeutic options. Symptom management remains an integral part of treatment for these patients and guideline revisions include new supportive care options for MDS. Clinical trials are exploring novel therapeutics and new treatment regimens with use of combination therapies or examination of treatment sequences. It is paramount that health care providers remain up to date on forthcoming treatment options to decipher the best therapeutic option for patients.

Together, emerging therapies and changes to prognostic scoring systems have created a practice gap for health care providers treating patients with MDS.

To help you meet this challenge, this symposium will feature a series of case presentations given by prominent experts in the field to discuss the latest data in MDS and the implications for clinical practice. In addition to clinical scenarios, the expert panel will discuss their own preferences, with perspectives on clinical trial data and any important lessons learned from their own practice.

Benefits of Attending

  • Network with you colleagues and clinical experts in the field of myelodyplastic syndromes (MDS)
  • Gain insights from leading clinical experts on established and new developments for the prognosis of MDS
  • Apply the latest evidence, therapies, and treatment strategies to different clinical case scenarios
  • Improve supportive care and quality-of-life management of your patients with symptomatic MDS
