This CE-certified activity will be held as an ancillary symposium to the ONS 39th Annual Congress on Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Anaheim, CA. This symposium will feature a multidisciplinary panel of world-class experts in the care of dermatologic rash encountered during the treatment of cancer, including oncology nurse navigators, advanced practice nurses, a dermatologist, and a medical oncologist. Faculty will discuss targeted agents that result in rash and other dermatologic events, assessment and grading guidelines, mitigation and management strategies, and patient communication and quality-of-life issues. Additionally, case scenarios reflecting common clinical challenges will be presented, followed by an interactive Q&A session.
Target AudienceThis educational activity is directed toward all attendees of the Oncology Nursing Society's (ONS's) Annual Congress, as well as other advanced practice nurses, oncology nurses, registered nurses, and other members of the healthcare team who treat and manage patients with cancer.
Educational ObjectivesAt the conclusion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
- Review targeted agents that have the potential to cause a rash
- Summarize dermatologic assessment and grading guidelines
- Discuss techniques for early intervention to mitigate treatment-induced rash
- Evaluate clinical approaches outlined in consensus guidelines for patients with treatment-induced rash
