Medical Crossfire®: The Evolving Treatment Landscape for Triple-Negative Breast Cancer: What Clinicians Need to Know

Medical Crossfire®: The Evolving Treatment Landscape for Triple-Negative Breast Cancer: What Clinicians Need to Know

Saturday, March 6, 2021

Live, Interactive Virtual Conference!

7:00 AM - 8:30 AM EST

In the past few years, increased understanding of the underlying biology of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has led to several paradigm-shifting breakthroughs. Two new classes of agents have been added to the armamentarium for specific molecularly defined subsets of TNBC: PARP inhibitors for BRCA-mutated TNBCs, and immune checkpoint inhibitors for PD-L1+ TNBC. In addition, an antibody-drug conjugate targeting TROP-2 was recently approved for use in patients with pretreated metastatic TNBC. Several other new therapies are in late-phase clinical development and are likely to enter the clinic in the near future.

The Medical Crossfire®, one of PER®'s signature educational formats, is a video-based program in which a panel of distinguished experts engage in discussions on a particular clinical topic. In this activity, 3 key thought leaders will explore the evolving clinical evidence supporting new treatment options for TNBC. The discussion will focus on applying these data to clinical practice, particularly how to match treatment strategies to individual patients based on tumor and patient characteristics, and how to manage adverse events associated with new classes of agents. This lively discussion will help place new developments into clinical context to help optimize care for patients with triple-negative breast cancer.

Benefits of Attending

  • Hear experts discuss emerging data from clinical trials investigating new therapeutic approaches for TNBC in the context of clinical decision-making for patients
  • Learn how to incorporate new agents and individualize treatment planning for patients with TNBC by integrating biomarkers, clinical evidence, and patient-specific factors
  • Gain insight into evolving treatment approaches and investigational strategies for patients with TNBC

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward medical and surgical oncologists who treat patients with breast cancer. Nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, researchers, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of breast cancer are also invited to participate.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the biology and molecular subsets of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and explain the rationales for different targeted therapeutic approaches
  • Evaluate clinical evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of current and emerging treatment options for patients with TNBC, including adverse event management strategies
  • Incorporate appropriate biomarkers and patient characteristics into individualized treatment planning for patients with TNBC
  • Review emerging results and ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel agents and combination strategies for TNBC to address unmet clinical needs
