Overview

Oral cytotoxic and targeted oncolytics have revolutionized breast cancer treatment and are now part of treatment algorithms for HR+, HER2+, and triple-negative breast cancer subtypes. Multiple therapies with enhanced formulations are also in clinical trials to improve the delivery of agents traditionally administered intravenously. The rapidly growing role of oral chemotherapy in breast cancer requires a proactive shift in the roles and responsibilities for patients and clinicians. Disease- and patient-specific factors impact the success of oral chemotherapy regimens. A key role of both oncology pharmacists and nurses is to enhance the collaboration among oncology team members helping to care for these patients. This live virtual symposium provides a collaborative discussion for oncology pharmacists and nurses to examine clinical updates and best practices for managing oral oncolytics in patients with breast cancer.
