Chronic Fibrosing ILDs With Progressive Phenotype: Are You Aware of the Latest Data on Diagnosis and Emerging Treatments?

Chronic Fibrosing ILDs With Progressive Phenotype: Are You Aware of the Latest Data on Diagnosis and Emerging Treatments?

Tuesday, July, 7, 2020

Live Webcast!: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM EDT

Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are a diffuse group of parenchymal lung disorders that include diseases of unknown cause, as well as those associated with other diseases or environmental exposures. A proportion of patients develop a progressive fibrosing phenotype reflected in a decline in lung function, worsening symptoms, decreasing health-related quality of life, and elevated mortality. Early diagnosis and disease intervention are tantamount for patients with ILDs, but lengthy delays and misdiagnosis are common.

During this Medical Crossfire®, expert faculty specializing in pulmonology, rheumatology, and diagnostic radiology will engage in interactive discussions to share their clinical practice insights for making an accurate diagnosis and considering treatment with antifibrotics that can delay disease progression. ILDs with progressive fibrosing phenotypes will be reviewed with their unique patterns of fibrosis, along with the role and risks of advanced diagnostic procedures. Clinical management of chronic fibrosing ILDs will be covered, culminating in patient case presentations to bring discussions into practice.

Benefits of Attending

  • Gain familiarity with etiologies and early recognizable signs and symptoms of chronic fibrosing ILDs
  • Learn the role of antifibrotics in disease management and how to set patient treatment expectations
  • Understand the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and ongoing disease management

Target Audience

This educational program is directed toward pulmonologists, rheumatologists, radiologists, and critical care specialists as well as nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other specialists involved in the management of CF-ILD.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Assess the pathological radiological/histopathological patterns of fibrosis in chronic fibrosing ILDs and their role in defining disease etiology and subsequent management;
  • Identify key mechanisms underlying the varied forms of chronic fibrosing ILD, clinical presentation, and management;
  • Improve ability to diagnose chronic fibrosing ILDs earlier in the course of disease to allow for prompt intervention; and
  • Analyze the implications of recent and ongoing clinical research for the treatment chronic fibrosing ILDs.
