“D” is for Diagnosis: The Radiologist’s Role in Detecting and Diagnosing Rare Interstitial Lung Diseases

“D” is for Diagnosis: The Radiologist’s Role in Detecting and Diagnosing Rare Interstitial Lung Diseases

Thursday, August 13, 2020

Live Webcast! 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM ET

Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are a multifaceted group of lung disorders with similar clinical, physiologic, pathologic and radiologic characteristic. In progressive or severe forms, ILDs lead to progressive loss of lung function, respiratory failure, decreased quality of life and early mortality. Although considered rare, the incidence of ILDs by either unknown causes or associations with other diseases or environmental exposures has increased along with more complex and expanding disease classification.

During this highly interactive, game-style symposium, the audience will be encouraged to examine ‘mystery’ cases, look for clues from the clinical history and presentation, evaluate radiologic imaging and other diagnostic test results, and ultimately uncover the correct diagnosis. Expert faculty will then reveal the underlying disease and review therapeutic options.

Benefits of Attending

  • Quickly assimilate diagnostic acumen towards identification of underlying diseases associated with ILD
  • Gain a comprehensive perspective of testing options and patient factors to consider when evaluating patient cases suspicious of ILD
  • Learn the latest in new and emerging treatments for ILD
  • Interact with peers and faculty to share best practices when evaluating patient cases with rare lung diseases

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward radiologists, pulmonologists, pathologists, PAs, NPs, and additional healthcare professionals who are involved in the diagnosis of ILDs.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology of multiple ILD subtypes and how these mechanisms influence diagnostic signs, symptoms, and radiologic findings
  • Interpret radiographic patterns on high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) to differentially diagnose ILDs
  • Evaluate efficacy and tolerability of new and emerging treatments for ILD subtypes and potential use in clinical practice
