Maximizing the Potential of Cancer Immunotherapies: Collaborative Efforts to Refine Biomarker-Guided Immunotherapy

Maximizing the Potential of Cancer Immunotherapies: Collaborative Efforts to Refine Biomarker-Guided Immunotherapy

Tuesday, June 23, 2020

Live Webcast! 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM ET

Immune checkpoint inhibitors have already become the standard of care for a multitude of tumor types with a broad range of FDA-approved indications. As this treatment modality continues to evolve, the knowledge of biomarkers associated with their use needs to expand. Testing platforms and methodologies are also evolving, presenting an urgent need for pathologists and researchers to stay abreast of best practices for collaborative biomarker testing and interpretation. Biomarker-guided immunotherapy can help clinicians select optimal therapeutic approaches for their patients.

“Maximizing the Potential of Cancer Immunotherapies: Collaborative Efforts to Refine Biomarker-Guided Immunotherapy” is a continuing medical education (CME)–certified live virtual webcast symposium ancillary to AACR, which will be held Tuesday, June 23. This CME activity will help physicians assess the latest available data on biomarkers for immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy. Renowned experts will discuss the clinical utility of these biomarkers across multiple tumor types and assess the diagnostic testing platforms that measure DNA mismatch repair mutations, PD-L1 levels, tumor mutational burden, and other potential immune-oncology (IO) biomarkers. It has never been more important for researchers and practitioners to be knowledgeable about the benefits, risks, and appropriate uses of emerging immunotherapies in the clinic to individualize care for patients with cancer.

Benefits of Attending

  • Learn about the latest updates on biomarkers that guide immunotherapy treatment options
  • Gain expert perspectives on the validity of IO biomarker diagnostic methods that correspond to immunotherapy response
  • Discover ongoing research that incorporates novel immune cell biomarkers to identify patients most likely to benefit from immunotherapy

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed toward oncologists, researchers, pathologists, other laboratory professionals, and nurses who are interested in biomarkers for cancer immunotherapies.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the most recent clinical evidence supporting the use of cancer immunotherapies across tumor types
  • Summarize ongoing research efforts to better understand current and emerging biomarkers with the potential to guide cancer treatment with immunotherapy
  • Evaluate the benefits and limitations of different methodologies and platforms for testing of predictive biomarkers for immunotherapy
  • Implement best practices for the use of diagnostic tools and biopsy sampling for immunotherapy biomarker testing, based on the latest recommendations and evidence
