This program explores the role of the nurse practitioner and the nurse at the forefront of the multidisciplinary team, with a focus on the appropriate use of current and evolving treatment options, thus improving their abilities to promote shared decision-making with their patients, and ultimately improve their patients’ functional outcomes as well as enhance their quality of life.
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
Articulate the role of the nurse practitioner and the nurse and in heart failure (HF) management
Identify risk factors that impact morbidity, mortality, and quality-of-life outcomes in patients with HF
Apply appropriate pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic strategies for patients across the spectrum of HF treatments based on the most recent clinical evidence and guidelines
Determine appropriate strategies shown to reduce recidivism in HF, focusing on the need for a collaborative, team-based approach
