Overview

Medical Crossfire®: Leveraging Liquid Biopsies in Tumor Characterization for NSCLC Therapy is a dynamic expert panel discussion designed to update oncology healthcare professionals on current applications for liquid biopsies in personalizing care for patients with lung cancer. This activity consists of 4 modules that will present multiple expert points of view on this rapidly developing area of molecular testing:

  • Module 1 will present an overview of the role of tumor genomic analysis in selecting therapy, as well as the limits of conventional biopsy methods.
  • Module 2 will provide the scientific basis for liquid-based biopsies in mutational testing.
  • Module 3 will incorporate case-based discussions on the application of liquid biopsies, including considerations of when a tissue- or liquid-based approach should be considered.
  • Module 4 will address ongoing areas of investigation and potential future applications for liquid-based biopsies.

Target Audience

This educational activity is intended for medical oncologists, pathologists, and fellows who treat patients with cancer. Nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, researchers, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of cancer will be invited to participate.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  1. Discuss the benefits and limitations of liquid biopsy, particularly as they compare with conventional biopsies
  2. Explain the fundamental basic science that underpins liquid biopsies
  3. Differentiate among available and emerging testing technologies
